Reverse Vending Machines
Reverse vending machines (RVMs) are innovative recycling stations that reward users
for recycling empty bottles, cans, and other eligible containers. Unlike traditional
vending machines, which dispense products, RVMs accept used containers, recognize
them through advanced scanning technology, and then offer rewards like cash, discounts,
or loyalty points. RVMs help reduce waste, promote recycling, and support sustainability
efforts by making it easy and rewarding for people to recycle on the go. They’re increasingly
popular in public spaces and retail locations, providing a convenient solution to
environmental waste challenges.
You can find a RVM now in the LSU Student Union by the Olinde Career Center.
