The LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business recently hosted "AI in Action: Leading in Louisiana Industries," a symposium exploring the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) across key sectors of the Louisiana economy. This event brought together industry leaders, policymakers, academics, and entrepreneurs to discuss the opportunities, challenges, and ethical considerations of integrating AI into Louisiana's future.
The Louisiana Economy Forecasting Model, maintained by the Department of Economics, provides economic forecasts for Louisiana and the state’s nine metropolitan areas for the current quarter and three quarters ahead. The forecasts for the first quarter of 2025 through the fourth quarter of 2025 suggest continuing slow growth in state economic activity and slow employment growth in all but four metro areas.
The marketing industry is evolving faster than ever, driven by technological innovations and consumer expectations. Dr. Ronald W. Niedrich, Professor and Robert S. Greer Chair in Marketing at the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business, is well-versed in preparing students for this changing landscape. The Office of Research & Economic Development announced that three Ourso College faculty have received awards from the 2025 Provost’s Fund for Innovation in Research: Anmol Soni (Public Administration), Paola Ugalde (Economics), and Andrew Schwarz (Entrepreneurship & Information Systems).
Last fall, 41 LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business students provided research and strategy support for eight local companies seeking venture capital. These efforts are part of the Venture Capital Apprentice Program (VCAP) formed by Nexus Louisiana (NexusLA), Innovation Catalyst and the Red Stick Angel Network in collaboration with the E. J. Ourso College and LSU Innovation Park.
