Biography

I am currently in my final year of my doctoral studies, completing a dissertation that examines gendered inclusion in Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration programs.  I have previously completed a Master's degree in Political Science from LSU with a thesis examining rebel governance, and a Bachelor's degree (Joint Honours) in Politics and American Studies from the University of Nottingham with an international study year at LSU.  I have previously worked in humanitarian response with the British Red Cross, as well as local and county government in the United Kingdom in the education department and the arts and culture department.

Areas of Interest

My research focuses broadly on gendered elements of conflict.  My dissertation research is centered on conceptualizing gender in post-conflict processes, specifically during the Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration process, using feminist analysis.  Other research interests include the use of conflict-related sexual violence by rebel groups, how the presence of women and girl combatants may shape rebel group characteristics, and how the inclusion of women and girls in post-conflict processes shape gender norms in conflict-affected societies.
