Welcome
Arrival & Orientation
Welcome to LSU! Our team is excited to welcome you into our on-campus community. The resources below provide an overview of what to expect as you arrive for the start of your first semester. If you have any questions along the way, please contact us; we're here to support you as you transition to life at LSU.
Pre-Arrival Orientation
Before arriving on campus, every new international student takes our pre-arrival orientation, which introduces you to life at LSU and discusses immigration procedures.
Pre-Arrival Townhalls
Before you arrive, you and your family can attend pre-arrival townhalls, online meetings where you can ask questions and meet members of the LSU community.
Pre-Arrival Form
Our team is excited to welcome you to LSU and Baton Rouge! Before you arrive, please fill out the following form so that we can start preparing for your arrival.
For more information about planning your travel, housing, and immigration processes, please see our pre-arrival guide.
Report Your Arrival
As soon as you arrive on campus, it is important to report your arrival in a timely manner so that we can update your information in the SEVIS student system. Don't worry — reporting your arrival is quick and easy! Click the button below to start the two simple reporting steps.
In-Person Orientation
Once you've arrived on campus, you'll attend several in-person orientation programs — these required programs will help you become familiar with the campus, meet other LSU students, and begin creating your community.
All international students will attend two orientation programs:
- International Student Orientation, a program provided by our Global Community Center
- One of the following orientation programs provided by LSU:
- Orientation for new undergraduate students: Registration is required, and there is a fee for this program.
- Orientation for students transferring from another school: Registration is required, and there is a fee for this program.
- Orientation for graduate students: This program is offered only during the fall semester, and there is no cost to attend.
If your spouse and/or children are moving to LSU with you, you and your family can attend a special international family orientation that provides information like maintaining status for families, healthcare, childcare, and more.
Registration links and dates for all orientation programs will be provided to you via email before you arrive.
If you have any questions along the way, please feel free to contact us via email or phone. We're looking forward to seeing you soon!
