Pathobiological Sciences

PBS manages the Division of Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine (BIOMMED), the Center for Lung Biology and Disease (CLBD), and the Flow Cytometry Facility. BioMMED is a multidisciplinary research, support and development unit that provides centralized access to state-of-the-art equipment and advanced training in molecular and cell biology. The CLBD was established in 2019 with an $11.5 million grant from the National Institutes of Health Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) program. The CLBD augments research on campus in the molecular and cellular immunological mechanisms of pulmonary diseases. The Flow Cytometry Facility is a core laboratory featuring a Becton Dickinson FACS Aria dual laser flow cytometer/sorter capable of measuring seven fluorescence emissions as well as 4-way cell sorting capacity. In addition, the facility has a Becton Dickinson Calibur dual laser benchtop flow cytometer capable of measuring four fluorescence emissions as well as a sorting option capable of performing single population sorts.
