Financial Information
Tuition, Fees, and Cost of Attendance
Tuition and fees include the cost to enroll in the DVM program. Cost of attendance is the maximum amount of financial aid a student can receive to cover tuition and fees, food, housing, transportation, supplies, etc. These numbers are updated annually in July.
Louisiana residents and Arkansas residents who receive a contract offer are responsible for resident tuition and fees. Residents of Puerto Rico, non-contract Arkansas residents, and all other non-Louisiana residents are responsible for non-resident tuition and fees for all four years of the DVM program. Louisiana residency cannot be claimed for tuition purposes.

Scholarships
LSU Vet Med DVM students are eligible to apply for internal (LSU) scholarships after matriculation into the DVM program. Scholarships are not available for incoming DVM students. Scholarships are awarded each Spring after matriculation. Candidates can consider applying for external scholarship opportunities, which may be available for incoming DVM students. Candidates can search for scholarships from professional veterinary organizations in their home state, local groups such as kennel clubs, former employers or fraternal organizations, and organizations to which they belong such as student clubs, religious organizations, or other identity groups. Applicants should review scholarship information carefully and never pay money to apply for a scholarship or other funding opportunity.

Federal Financial Aid
LSU Vet Med students who plan to request federal financial aid must complete the FAFSA at studentaid.gov with the school code, 002010. Students must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress to continue receiving financial aid each semester and must be enrolled at least half time for any semester to receive loans. Funds typically disburse the week before school begins. Students can view loan history and information at nsldsfap.ed.gov. The federal student aid website has general information regarding federal aid including repayment at studentaid.gov.
For questions about financial aid, including VA benefits/GI Bill use, candidates should contact the LSU Office of Financial Aid.
Students must report any additional resources identified any time after submitting the financial aid application to the Office of Financial Aid. This includes scholarships. If an offer of financial aid has already been made, it will be reviewed and adjusted as necessary to ensure that total resources do not exceed calculated need. All scholarship and grant funds received in excess of amounts used for payment of tuition, fees, books, supplies and equipment are considered taxable income for U.S. income tax purposes. It is the students' responsibility to report this income on tax returns.

Cost Comparison
The American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges hosts a cost comparison tool that provides a resource to compare tuition and fees, cost of attendance, and debt information across many veterinary institutions. It is updated annually.
