Biography

Husain Sarkar received his Ph.D. in philosophy at the University of Minnesota in 1976 and in the same year joined the philosophy faculty at LSU. He served as Director of Graduate Studies from 1985 to 1988 and again from 1996 to 1997. 

Areas of Interest

Professor Sarkar is interested in moral philosophy, metaphysics, the history of philosophy, and the history and philosophy of science.

Awards and Honors

  • Directed Blake M. Allen's Honors Thesis, The Right to Remain Silent: Kant and the Would-be Murderer at the Door, pp. viii+160. It received an Ogden Honors College Outstanding Thesis Award (2017).
