ECELP Receives Federal Grant to Help LSU Students Pay for Pre-K Tuition
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 27, 2020
BATON ROUGE–LSU Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool recently received a Child Care Access Means Parents in School Program (CCAMPIS) grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
This four-year grant is intended to supplement student family tuition at the ECELP. The total grant award is $369,204.
“This grant is critical in helping student families in completing their degree, while providing their children with high-quality early childhood education,” explains ECELP Executive Director Cynthia DiCarlo, PhD.
“An LSU degree opens doors for opportunity, which can change the course for future
generations of families,” says Dean of College of Human Sciences & Education Roland Mitchell, PhD.
In addition to the discounts already offered by the ECELP for student families, CCAMPIS eligible families will receive a 27% or 37% reduction in tuition based on their income. This can be combined with other state funds, making child care even more affordable to families pursuing an LSU degree.
