“Tell me and I forget. Show me and I remember. Involve me and I understand.”

As an LSU Career Coach, I have the privilege of working with a team of faculty and staff who support, empower, and educate students as they navigate the important steps of the career development process. Each day at LSU is exciting, and I truly enjoy working with students as they develop their resumes, practice for interviews, and prepare for the job search. It is an incredible feeling to be at LSU in a student services role where I can offer encouragement to students whose journeys are just beginning.

My favorite spot

Next to the lakes by Miller Hall. I had my first child while working on campus. Together we would make the walk to the lake, and he would point and laugh at the ducks. Both of us would feel much better after visiting with the wildlife. Even now, this is a special place. Today I saw a group of pelicans at the lake and last week I filmed an egret taking flight from the bridge. I always feel an uplift in my spirit when visiting the lakes on campus.

Curtain call

One of my favorite things to do in Baton Rouge is attend a play at Theatre Baton Rouge. When my son was younger, he participated in many theatre productions, and we always looked forward to a night out. The artists and staff who work to make these productions possible put in long hours and are incredibly talented.

Words to live by

The best piece of advice I've ever been given is: “Bloom where you are planted.” This advice was given to me early in my career, and I have carried it with me through all my jobs and varying roles.  It has encouraged me to have a growth mindset and to perform my best no matter where I find myself in life.
