Undergraduate Academics

The mission of LSU undergraduate (BS) computer science program is to instill in students, theoretical and applied practical skills needed to solve challenging problems using computer and better prepare them to compete in rapidly evolving and growing Information Technology fields. Graduates of the program use such concepts as abstraction and complexity analysis to solve innovative problems or to orchestrate evolutionary change as applied to the development of software systems and emerging applications. The program provides a strong foundation such that students can build on their skill-sets as the field rapidly evolves.

The Computer Science program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org. The program educational objectives outline goals of the computer science program intended for recent graduates in the workplace or in research or academic positions. In order to meet the program objectives, a graduate of the program will have accomplishments consistent with the general criteria for student outcomes specified by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET.
